SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK.

WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?

Classes are held at the SOKA GAKKAI Buddhist Centre. 3 Parkview Drive, Sydney Olympic Park (a short stroll from Dawn Fraser Avenue). We're in Room 2 . Here's a map.

WHEN ARE THE CLASSES HELD?
Classes are run in (average) 10-week terms, running concurrently with (NSW) school terms.
Our next term will be Monday 19th April - Wednesday 30th June 2010 inclusive (= 11 weeks).

If you miss the start of term, depending on your Yoga/Pilates experience and health at the moment, it’s typically OK to join in now; although if you’d rather wait click here to be added to our email list and receive details about NEXT term classes.

WHAT TIME ARE THE CLASSES?
YOGA: Wednesdays 12noon start (12:05 - 12:55pm), with Jolie Brook.
PILATES: Unfortunately we didn't get enough people this term to run the Pilates class. We'll bring it back next term (October 2010) and hopefully get a few more interested.
All classes are OPEN standard, and are suitable for most people, regardless of your experience.

WHAT IS THE COST?
If you pay in advance for the term (or part-term), cost = $17/class.
You can also pay casually (per class) = $20/class.

CAN I TRY BEFORE I BUY?

Yes - If you've never done a class with us then your FIRST CLASS IS FREE !! All you need to do is either email us or bring this completed FREE CLASS FORM to class with you.

HOW DO I JOIN A CLASS?
FULL TERM REGISTRATION: (Pro rata $17/class for the whole term)
Register online for the class you’d like to attend with the intention of committing to come to that same class (day and timeslot) for the whole term. I’m sure you understand due to space restrictions we cannot allow you to simply register for a term and then come and go to whatever class as you please. There is limited mat space in the room.

PART TERM REGISTRATION:
If you'd like to commit to attending classes, though know you'll be away for part of the term, you can EMAIL THIS (completed) REGISTRATION FORM TO US and only pay $17/class (pro-rata, in advance) for the classes you can attend. Note: there is a $5 service fee added to all part term registrations to cover higher bank fees and admin.

RATHER PAY CASUALLY, OR WITH CASH?

You can choose to pay casually and just do drop-in classes - $20/class. Before you start with us, we need to check your health/injury details. There is also limited space in the classroom - so for these reasons we don't like to accept drop-ins without prior application. EMAIL THIS (completed) REGISTRATION FORM TO US then you can attend any casual class you like. If you would rather pay CASH IN ADVANCE for your classes, download this form, and email it to us.

Please note: We require minimum 15 students to register for full term, for the class to viably go ahead. We will be sure to let you know AND refund you, should that be an issue.

DO I HAVE FREE ACCESS TO THE CLASS VENUE?

Yes, access isn’t a problem.

WHAT DO I WEAR / BRING / NEED IN CLASS?
Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing and bare feet. (Corporate attire doesn’t work).
Your YOGA practise is more effective on a yoga mat – a towel isn’t suitable beyond your first couple of classes, nor are Pilates and camping-style mats. Mostly for hygiene purposes, we advise students to work on their OWN mats. You can buy yoga mats out in the shops for anything up to $90, or you can purchase one from YOGABOWL (delivered to your next class) for $35.There is also some other useful, reasonably priced yoga equipment available here. Pilates is also practisecd on a Pilates Mat - please ask Lindsey (your teacher) about the right mat for you.

IS THERE SOMEWHERE I CAN GET CHANGED?
Yes - there are bathrooms at the Buddhist Centre where you can get changed.

WHAT ABOUT EATING AROUND CLASS TIME?
Typically what happens in Yoga and Pilates, and what happens when food is digesting, isn't a happy match. That's why we recommend you leave at least 90 mins between your last (full) meal and your class. It's OK to have a SMALL snack during that hour before class, but w suggest you eat your meal after class.

CAN I ENROL IN BOTH CLASSES?
Yes of course. Quite a few of our students are currently attending more than once a week. Yoga and Pilates compliment each other beautifully. Many students are currently attending more than once a week. Simply register for whichever classes you’d like to attend this term. Students who register to attend MORE THAN ONE FULL TERM of classes per week (ie. more than one enrolment in a single term) receive a FREE GIFT of either a Mat Carry Bag or a Satin Eye Pillow. Just let us know your preference after you've registered.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I ENROLL FOR THE FULL TERM AND THEN MISS A FEW CLASSES?
Even though it's sometimes difficult to commit to a full term in advance, it should be said: the success and progress of your Yoga/Pilates practice is directly dependent on your commitment to its frequency. If you miss a few (PAID IN ADVANCE) classes, you're welcome to make the classes up in ANY of our other classes this term. Your MAKE UP CLASS options / locations are: DARLING PARK, SYDNEY CBD, SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK or our small Yoga school up on the Northside (Longueville & Greenwich) – YOGABOWL - please just let us know of your intention to do so if you're switching venues to do make-up classes. The classes you pay for this term ARE ONLY VALID FOR THE CURRENT TERM you enrolled in, and unused classes do not credit into subsequent terms.

CLASSES TO YOU - ON OR OFF-SITE:
We can bring Yoga and/or Pilates classes direct to your office. They're a great inclusion for your off sites, team building sessions, appreciation and rewards, et al. We can arrange an appropriate program for your group, suitable for all levels. Express your interest here.

ARE THERE OTHER PUBLIC CLASSES HELD ELSEWHERE?

Yes - we are a multi-venue yoga school with public classes in the Sydney CBD, Darling Park, Sydney Olympic Park, and up on the Northside (Longueville and Greenwich) - YOGABOWL. Please follow the web links for details.

WILL THERE BE MORE CLASSES RUNNING SOON?

Yes - but only if you ask us to. We are working on expanding the program to include more classes, which is a supply and demand issue. If you would like to see a few more classes available, register your expression of interest here.
