RESTORATIVE YOGA

The research all confirms it: chronic stress puts us at risk for disease - both physical and emotional. Judith Lasater, the recognised Queen of Restorative Yoga, states: "A life lived on overload affects health, sexual function, reproduction, relationships, job performance, athletic performance, and most important, one's sense of self." Fortunately we all have an inborn mechanism that can counteract the harmful effects of stress on the body. When given the chance to emerge, our relaxation response provides a soothing, healing effect on the body, mind and spirit.

Restorative yoga is a chance to deepen the connection with your body, minimising our habitual tendency to go stronger, harder, faster, more… and to in fact actively and intentionally do very little. Savouring in restorative poses for longer it is a time to cultivate a compassionate conversation with your body; to listen to your body with your intuitive ear, connect with your inner wisdom – what needs healing or restoring?

Mitch (Michelle) Gibson will be guiding this 90 min workshop session where we will use plenty of props in each posture to indulge in a sustained savasana (ie. Relaxation)-like state. You will leave with a renewed sense of being.
This workshop is suitable for any and everyone, regardless of previous yoga experience. Please arrive with an open heart, your yoga mat, and a few extra blankets.

During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited. A few of the measurable physical results of deep relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure, serum triglycerides and blood sugar levels in the blood, the increase of the "good cholesterol" levels, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination, the reduction of muscle tension, insomnia and generalized fatigue. The emotional benefits are way beyond measure. Come and experience it for yourself. Bookings are ESSENTIAL.
If the website won't allow you to book, it means the workshop has sold out. Our next workshop will be Sunday 25 March.
